The Challenge
The Adams staff annually fields over 10,000 requests for historical information. With the acquisition of the most extensive collection of gold mining records in North America, requests for historical information have increased exponentially. The Adams board of directors realized that a new building was necessary in order to properly care for and offer public accessibility to these records. To that end, the city of Deadwood purchased a 17,000 square foot building to serve as the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center.
The non-profit Adams Museum & House, Inc. has now established a research center of national significance.
