The Opportunity
The Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center is designed to:
- Protect over 20,000 cubic feet of original documents in a climate-controlled and secure environment
- Provide easy and well-organized access to documents never before available to the public
- Host classes for secondary and post-secondary students on topics ranging from geology, astronomy, engineering and art to history, archaeology, anthropology and paleontology
- Sponsor programs including workshops, symposiums, conferences, film festivals, traveling exhibitions, summer camps and lectures relevant to the history, art and natural history of the Black Hills
- Foster ongoing research and the creation of publications
- Rent rooms for receptions, meetings and parties
- Offer document scanning and reproduction services
The HARCC serves a diverse and broad-based audience: from the Sanford Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory and History Channel to the fourth grade student in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Entertainment Weekly.
